NCADI Services

SAMHSA's National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information (NCADI) is the Nation's one-stop resource for information about substance abuse prevention and addiction treatment.

The NCADI Information Services Department

The NCADI Information Services Department responds to alcohol and substance abuse information requests via telephone, e-mail, voice mail, postal mail, TDD, and fax. Information Specialists at NCADI assist a wide variety of inquirers, including the general public, drug and alcohol prevention specialists, drug and alcohol treatment specialists, educators, schools, community centers, hospitals and clinics, boys and girls clubs, and shopping centers.

NCADI offers a wide variety of services. Requesters may:

  • Place Publication Orders. NCADI distributes a wide range of free or low-cost materials, including fact sheets, brochures, pamphlets, monographs, posters, and video tapes. Information specialists are familiar with the NCADI inventory and can suggest and provide publications and quantities most appropriate for the requester's situation or event.
  • Speak to an Information Specialist. Information Specialists are trained to answer questions about alcohol and substance abuse prevention, intervention, and treatment. NCADI information specialists are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. TDD and Spanish language services are also available. In addition, NCADI provides information through an onsite visitor request service.
  • Obtain Referrals. NCADI can refer inquirers to other alcohol and substance abuse concerned organizations and centers that can provide them with additional information. Also, NCADI Information Specialists are trained to handle crisis telephone calls.
